T.J., it just goes to show that one has to be really desperate for employment if they are willing to take on the job of a C.A., where they have to endure BullSh@t of that nature. I mean these Lasses were actually worked up and thought I was serious with my comments. I will admit though that it was fun to hear that paradigm shift in their voices - actually going from aggressive with me, to quite disturbed.

Don't think that I'll make this my routine type of response now; I don't have it in me. It is entertaining as you said though, especially on days like these when I needed a break from the IT courses that I'm into. Timing was perfect. LOL!!

This gets even funnier... As these clowns opted to try calling me twice again today since this early afternoon call. Only difference for those two is I opted out of answering the phone, and let 'em drop to vm. Now two more automated vm's from Ms. Madda asking me to call in to discuss an amazing opportunity to establish my credit.. LOL!! My guess is I'll be playing more games tomorrow should I opt to take their calls.

Hey Lotsaquestions,

Not sure how you fared out on your end with this MBNA debt, but thought I'd share a little story here... It would appear that one of the 3rd party agencies (name withheld for now) has been calling me regarding a 8 or 9yr old MBNA debt (~20k or so now) for the last few weeks. Well, yesterday and today I had a little fun with the Agents on the phone. The one yesterday was really trying to get me wired up, so I flipped the coin on her and suggested we get a hotel room and discuss this matter in private, like adults. Guess she wasn't ready for that, because she hung up the phone... Today, another call from the automated Ms. Matta system (same female voice) so again I opted to press #1 for an attendant. This time around I received a male attendant, so I opted to inform him (using a soft elevated voice) of how much I really enjoy Ms. Matta's calls. Guess this caught him off guard, so he stuck me on hold and tossed a female agent on the phone for me...

The story goes on from there, but let's just say that this attendant didn't want to keep the conversation going. Although I was just doing this stunt to elevate their blood pressures (and not actually using these people as 976 girls), I seem to have accomplished my mission because today's Lass was quite frustrated that I wouldn't discuss the MBNA debt with her. Oh well.. This may not be the most professional approach when dealing with these scums, but what the heck? It was still good for a laugh, and I highly doubt any law enforcement agency would give a crap that I pulled a stunt of this nature - especially considering they are calling me, I'm not the one calling them.

So that's my wild stunt story for the day. It'll be interesting to see if they keep calling now, or if they sell the debt to another agency?

O.C.

Get it on company letterhead with someone in authority signing it. Have the account number stipulated and the other request of no new dates etc. Cover all your bases.
Just some yahoo on the phone who probably will not be there next month is not an authorized signer.
You need a mgr. or ceo.

So I asked her to send me a letter of the offer of settlement and she did.

Is there anything in there that is cloudy?

I'm going to mention what you said - ask that they not post a new date other than the "DoD".

It states -

"We have been authourized by our client to accept the sum of $250 wghich will settle your outstanding debt in connection with the above referenced account.

Payment to the Settlement Amount as described above shall cease further collection activities of the above referenced amount. However, should you pay the amount and seek to re-subscribe to Bell Mobility's services in the future, acceptance of your service subscription with Bell Mobility is conditional upon payment of the then outstanding account balance.

Should and default in the terms of this settlement letter occur, teh approval will be withdrawn, and the full amoun tof the debt shall be due and payable, less any payment made under the terms of this agreement."

You can not have something on your report removed, but as part of your settlement agreement you can prevent them from adding a new post. If it is in writing and signed by an officer of the company you could always sue later for damages if they breached the agreement.

When you get your settlement in writing make sure it specifies the original default date. Least then you would have something to argue with at a later date if you had to.
