In fact, I requested written explanatory notice of the debt in question...TWICE!

The first time, I never recieved anything...but the calls did cease for three days,

The second time, I received a letter...which provides SFA in the way of useful information! Apparently, I owe some unknown department of the City Of Toronto $50.00! No details as to whom or why...!

I'm waiting for their attempt to collect all the license fees I owe as a cat owner since 1977 (needless to say, those fees didn't exist then and may not now...?!)...As well as the surtax, syntax, thumb tacks, carpet tacks, usw. that have languished unpaid since the year dot...

Hey Gordo Laplanc...

I unwittingly paid money into an unknown account without receipt or acknowledgment from Canadian Bonded Credits

Thanks for mentioning that...
I think that people should never pay a collection agency unless they have written documentation of some sort. Paying into an unknown account has potential for trouble.

I'm not saying that Canadian Bonded Credits is fraudulent in any way. It is a good practice to do you due diligence before making payments.

Asking Canadian Bonded Credits for their proper identification is always a good idea.

Thanks for the advice. I followed it and hopefully I will be hearing shortly from someone.

My complaint was that I received no official letter stating I was going into collections or that it was in arrears. I unwittingly paid money into an unknown account without receipt or acknowledgment from Canadian Bonded Credits. I was also given 5 phone calls in one week.

Furthermore, I was threatened this matter would be taken to Small Claims Court. It was not my intent to cause aggravation, however some hasty presumptions were made regarding my living situation. My only request was for some leniency until January 2007 when I begin receiving funds for my disability.

I also wanted to stop anymore telephone calls and requested that all further correspondence be in writing since the harassment was getting out of hand.

We all need to start taking an active roll in setting limits on this behaviour from these corporations. People don't deserve this kind of treatment.

Thanks for the advice. I followed it and hopefully I will be hearing shortly from someone.

My story was as follows:

I received no official letter stating I was going into collections or that it was in arrears. I paid money into an unknown account without receipt or acknowledgment from Canadian Bonded Credits. I was also given over 3 phone calls in one week from this particular individual.

Furthermore, I was threatened this matter would be taken to Small Claims Court. It was not my intent to cause aggravation, however some hasty presumptions were made regarding my living situation. My only request was for some leniency until January 2007 when I begin receiving funds for my disability.

I also wanted to stop anymore telephone calls and requested that all further correspondence be in writing.

Michelle's iQor Collection agency - CBCL problem

Postby montyloree » Fri Aug 12, 2005 12:00:00 AM

Hi Michelle,
Did you contact Consumer Protection?

All of these requests should be done in writing. First right letters to iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency , second write letters of complaint to the Consumer Protection.

By writing letters, you're creating proof of what you're trying to do. If iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency doesn't reply properly you'll have proof of that as well. I wouldn't spend any time trying to contact them on the phone.

If the new collection agency is hounding you, do the same thing... get their name and address and correspond with them via mail. It will cut down on the phone calls.

Yes... it is difficult writing letters, but it will put you into control of the situation right away.

iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency and all collection agency's by law must have their accounting in order. If they don't have a record of your payments, your inquiry could cause an investigation into their finances, which they certainly don't want.

Write letters to the original creditor as well. As them for an accounting of your finances.

As soon as you start to write letters and complain to the proper authorities, you'll get some immediate action.

Keep us up to date with what's happening. Thanks

PS as I mentioned before... we can help out if you need letter writing etc for a small hourly fee. 306-546-7426

BTW... Canadian Bonded Credit Limited seems to have been pretty busy as it ranks one of the highest searched to get to our Canadian Money Advisor site. Collection agencies are getting a great deal of searches. It means that people are really looking for information like yours Michelle.

I encourage other people to explain your situation so that other people will be helped by the information. Thanks
