You need to check out Ontario's fair trade act (or simular) for credit reporting practices. In Alberta, it drops off from 6 years from date of last payment or if no payment, last activity. Collection agencies can change the date of last activity (if your paying them) but it's the last payment date that counts (TO THE CREDITOR). If it's november of 2005 then it would be november 2011, it drops off and if it doesn't then file a dispute with equifax and trans union saying its over that time.
As for your HBC stuff? It has no info so should affect your FICO score, and since it says 2006, it's unlikely now it will be updated. So just leave it and don't call anyone.
I have a cancelled by creditor on mine but thats just because the creditor GE Money that did Wal-Mart credit cards isn't doing it anymore. Cancelled by creditor can mean anything, and you do have that magic line in their that says paid and no late payments.
I had a Sears card that went to collection in 1991 and it's still on my transunion credit file, but it boosts my score by 40 points over equifax, because it says paid and no late payments and the account is open.
