I am surprised Rogers have the business they have. I found them to be one of the worst wireless companies around when it came to billing and customer service. I think you need to elevate your concern to upper management.

Do I have a case here?

I was recently shocked when I pulled my credit report. Expecting a stellar score, instead I saw Rogers Wireless had slapped me with a bunch of late payments. I cancelled with them, turns out they sent me one last bill of trumped up fees. The thing is, when I cancelled their service, I told them that I was leaving to work on an extended trip overseas and therefore would not need their service and also that I would be unavailable so I would like close my "no-commitment" contract and pay ALL balances NOW. I was told over the phone this was OK. Besides, I was dissatisfied with their service anyway and I got $300 bills in months I never even used my phone - and payed them on time. When I got back home, I had several Rogers bills for 80-something dollars - after I was told on the phone we were all square! I questioned the person on the phone several times when I payed my last bill because of Rogers' penchant for dreaming up all kinds of fees and was assured each time that my "no-commitment" contract was payed in full before I left.

I called Rogers right away and asked if the account had been sent to collections - I was told it had not. Nor had I received any letters stating that it had gone to collections. I asked directly if any credit bureaus had been notified of the late payment - I was told they had not. I payed the bill on the spot thinking the Rogers nightmare was finally over.

1 year later, pull my report - BAM! I can only assume I was being punished for ending my contract - one last screw from Rogers on the way out the door. Of course, I called the bureau saying I wanted to dispute. They told me only Rogers could correct the information. Rogers simply jerked me around on the phone for 2 hours, transferring me multiple times denying any wrongdoing and finally agreeing to reduce, but not eliminate, the late payments. Nothing changed. Rogers also now says they sent the account to collections. How could they? - I paid the bill direct to Rogers, not a collections agency.

I acted in good faith and was lied to several times by Rogers. I always payed, the money was never an issue. I'd rather pay a trumped-up bill than get burned on credit and did my best to protect it. The trouble is, all this communication with Rogers was done over the phone, so I have no way to confirm it and Rogers will not budge. Still, I can't believe that a person can get burned like this. There is no way that a person with cash in hand, willing to pay, should go down like this. What was I supposed to do? Stay home staring at my mailbox and wait for Rogers to dream up more service charges? I asked one of the Rogers people on the phone to tell me how this situation could have worked out that I WOULDN'T have gotten hit with a late payment. Like, what would they have done - no answer. I was corralled right into it.

Right now, I just want it gone. I'll pay a lawyer, whatever it takes. This is not the way business should be done in this country or anywhere else.
