The simplest way to find out how to find out when the last payment/activity was made on the account is to ask for a statement of account. You probably won't get it, but at least they aren't permitted to call you until they provide it.

Try to contact the original creditor for the statements as well.

Say something to the effect of "I have recently been receiving calls for payment of an unpaid credit card balance I'm told belongs to me. I would like some more information about this account it is alleged I owe. Can you please send me statements of account... for the last few months should be good... and any other information that will help me figure out what is going on?"

Go from there.

Have been speaking to CBV collection agency who has been callling me every other day demanding to know what I am going to do about this debt. I've been getting the good guy bad guy routine, The I'm new here at CBV, and I'm the most senior rep..OK Ok I'm starting to give here. I've made some horrible choices when it came to my credit in the past, but over several years I have paid back my debts. Except for one apparently. It is a credit card debt that I thought the bank had written off, they never contacted me, (I truly can not remember if they sent me collection notices,) I would like to know what SOL is on this debt but don't know how to go about it safely. I'm certain it's been longer than 6 years but then again maybe it's only 5 years and 11 months, is there any truth to the Statuate of Limitations in BC. I'm thinking I'll just pay them back and get it over with on my terms of course. I'm willing to pay the principle. Thanks EyePaid or so I thought
