Well, if you do nothing, you may have a problem -- writing bogus cheques is considered fraud, but I know they usually understand if you tell them what happened. You'll probably have to pay both parties NSF charges, but you should be OK with the settlement from the new bank.

Postby hyderman » Thu Feb 07, 2008 07:27:07 PM

i have visa royal bank and i have to make payment so i wrote 3500$ check from other financial institution as a transfer balance.
royal bank accepted the check and credit my account 3500. so i wrote acheck from royal bank to pay abusiness the payment went through because i have anough money in my royal bank account after depeosting the transfer balance check. today the bank put my account on hold becase the check bounced (because the account that i wrote the check from is CLOSED). SO I REALIZED today i gave them wrong check instead of giving them HSBC BANK CHECK I GAVE THE CHECK FROM BMO BANK(THE ACCOUNT IS CLOSED)

NOW is this a problem. can the bank sue me or am i in a legal problem
