In order to maintain good credits,we need to make sure that we follow certain rules and regulation that will ensure that we are on the right track.

Some of the Key points are as follows-:

1) The first and foremost thing is to "Pay Your Bills on Time".
2) We need to make sure that we "Build a Strong Payment Pattern".
3) At any given point of time use only a few set of credit cards.
4) Please Close All Retail and Gas Cards.
5) Should not Have Too Many Outstanding Loans
6) Charging Close to Your Credit Line Limit must be strictly avoided.
7) Annually,review your Credit Report.
8) Limiting Inquiries on your Credit Report.

Yes...
Checking your credit reports with Equifax Canada and Transunion Canada regularly is important.

I have a DIY Credit Repair ebook for Canadians here if anybody is interested.

I certainly agree with montyloree and checking ones credit accounts every now and then is really important and this will certainly help them to iron out any changes if they have.

Good credit or bad credit, you need to see your credit reports

Most people who I talk to who have good credit, never order their credit reports. They haven't seen their credit reports and don't really think they need to see their credit reports.

From my experience, it is important for people to take the time and the effort to order their credit reports. If you've had credit for any amount of time, Equifax and TransUnion are reporting stuff about you.

I have seen on several occasions people have duplicate entries on their credit reports, credit amounts misreported and so on.

For example, let's assume you've got a MBNA MasterCard with a credit limit of $50,000. If you have a duplicate record on your credit report, it will look to future creditors as if you've got $100,000 credit available.

Example.
$50,000 credit card availability
$50,000 credit card availability (listed from erroneous duplicate)
= $100,000 credit available.

Even though you've got perfect credit, you'll be penalized for having too much credit available. The company that you're applying to will say, "you've got an extra $50,000 credit available, why don't you just use that? Why are you applying for more credit?"

I've seen this happen over and over again. Please order your credit reports from Equifax Canada and Trans UniontCanada today
