This is really interesting info. I've had a collection agent hounding me.

It's embarrassing, but it just never ocurred to me that you could do something about stopping them from calling and getting into control.

I've call Consumer Protection in Alberta here and they explained what I can expect from a collection agency. This collection agency is from Ontario. I need proof that they are actually licensed in Alberta. Both their agency and their agent need to be licensed in Alberta before they can collect me. If they don't send me proof that they are licensed, it's really an illegal phone call. Without proof, I don't have to talk to them.
