Another thing worth paying attention to are statement of claims that appear to be filed separately by this company against a single individual apparently to circumvent the small claims court threshhold limit of $10,000.00 In other words, to make a claim in small claims court, the maximum claim against an individual is $10,000.00 and if a company that buys debts ends up with several accounts against an individual, then they may try to file separate claims for these accounts, however, apparently this is against the rules as they must file one claim for all of their accounts against an individual. And the defendant must pay the filing fee separately for every claim filed against them.

Bell said they sold "the debt" to PMC in 2003 and have no record of it left.

Hey mikloslegrady,

Did you contact Bell regarding this?
It might be good to go to them directly.

Portfolio Management Solutions Inc probably got your name on a data disk and will call. They probably have no idea of the real history of the account.

I just received a phone call from PMC.

I've had this phone number for 8-9 years,
my bell bill includes my internet and home phone.

PMC says I owe them $67 + $30 fee on a Bell bill for Aug. 2002,
on a debt they purchased from Bell in 2003,
and this is the first time they called me.

I'm wondering why Bell would not add
the Aug 2002 bill, if unpaid, to the next month's bill.

PMC so far has refused to send me a copy of the info
or a written request, saying I should drive down to London, On. from Toronto, pay my bill, and then they'll issue me the info.

Something's wrong here. They got this info from Bell in 2003.
Why did they wait 4 years? Is there a time limitations beyond which they can't collect? It's not the money, I can pay $97 easely. It just feels like something's wrong here.
And why do they not want to send me a written statement?

Yes I have delt with this company and it was a very unpleasent experience. Actually it was quite disturbing how easily this collector resorted to harrassing insults, yelling, contacting me day and night and at work. At the end of it all I felt like I was dealing with a psycho path. Let me know if you would like more detailed information.

Portfolio Management Solutions Inc

I found this very long thread over at

Where could he possibly get the inside information that: This sale consisted of approximately 16,379 accounts, consisting of both consumer loans and conditional sales accounts originally booked by CitiFinancial, Avco Financial Services, Beneficial Canada, and Superior Credit Corporation.

This is a pretty good find.

Portfolio Management Canada Inc., anybody ever heard of them , or dealt with them?
