It was my Feb. 21 post on thread 457. I wasn't aware that you were an American until I saw your site, and so you wouldn't be familiar with particular collection companies in Canada.

Not that it matters though, because a collection agency is a collection agency, the world over.

Monty is somewhat inaccurate about my not being "crazy" about collectors. "Criminally insane," would be a better diagnosis.

This string doesn't go back to February - so restate your question...

Neither a conspiracy nor a theory, but factual experience by ex employees and victims. Do you have an answer?

Hi BillCollector, We should just callyou Bill!!

Thanks for dropping by..

Just to let everyone know, I invited Billcollector over to answer questions about collection agencies.

He's a former collection agent who now is writing a blog to help the public understand how to better deal with collection agents.

If you have any questions, I'm sure BillCollector is going to be more than happy to answer them.

TCR spent some money in getting the appeal heard and then salvaging some savings on the ordeal but the question is will they be compliant in the future?

I personally think that agencies learn from this. I was in the business for years and the press in this situation is bad for business. Every time they call on a client, this issue will come up.

If TCR is as bad as some of you say, why isn't there more press stories - is it because no one speaks up or is having a debt in collection still have the stigma it did years ago - a debtor once told me dealing with agencies was pennance for past lapses in judgement or bad karma.

In any case, I have a blog over at http://www.askabillcollector.com and we're open for business, it's a news aggregator with some comments from the bill collector - me.

I'm glad Monty has this site and I'm hoping to find a second home here.

To start things off - if you are contacted by a bill collector and rightfully owe the bill then pay it and don't complain about the call. Remember the fastest way to get a bill collector off the phone is to tell them you'll pay...

Good Point. It's too bad George Krieser and Wayne Macleod don't open up a TCR branch in Baghdad right next door to TCR alumna, Deanna Natale of Natale Law Offices.

Well, it took me awhile to read that (shhh I'm at work), thanks Tim. And I guess it also answers Ray's question as why none of the agents are ever canned, they all have Aliases....so, if there is a complaint, just change your name!!! I'm assuming the one thing that they cannot change is their Lic. Agent #, which probably most of them don't even have...
"Ms. Albrecht was the Total Credit manager overseeing the account. Ms. Lachman, a ?front line? collection agent of Total Credit, used the alias ?Christie Clark?. Mr. Combrinck, a ?back line collector? used the alias ?Mr. Fox?. Total Credit employees when calling debtors use aliases to protect the staff, which is permitted in British Columbia"
