I went bankrupt in 2003. I've had perfect credit since then, or so I thought. It seems that Contact Resource Services had purchased my account(settled in 2003), from another company that bought it from the original creditor. I had never heard of Contact Resources untill it showed up on my credit report. They are legally bound to not contact me, but to contact my trustee. They did not contact either of us, but that did not stop them from going straight to the credit bureau and reporting a collection on it! I stated to the Contact Resources agent that my collection had better not be at the three other credit reporting agencies. She said," are you threatening me?"
I said," No, of course not, I just want to make sure that I don't have to call you three more times because of the other three credit reporting bureaus." Why do they have the right to do this? When purchasing someone elses' account do they not even bother to check how that account was settled? They can have your credit destroyed and not even know it. I only found out by pulling my credit report from all four(four!!!)credit bureaus. Beware.
