1) Open a file with the CIBC ombudsman. A credit bureau CAN be amended by the organization that put it on in the first place. Otherwise ther would be no way they could fix info reported to john jones SR taht actually is for John Jones Jr

2) you can aslo add a customer statement to your own credit bureau regarding their entry. So at least you know your explination will be there too until it gets corrected. Go to www.equifax.ca to find how to do this.

CIBC Paying for their error

Postby coolz » Mon Jan 08, 2007 12:00:00 AM

Now here's a lady that had a similar situation to mine about 4 years ago.

++For me it has been "CIBC" they have ruined our credit, we had a staff loan with then and they NEVER changed the rates from staff to regular until 6 months after I left, yet because of their mistake we were give a rating of "R9", we called, we emailed and they simply do not care.
Their excuse is that we knew we had the debt, we sure did this is why we had even left an account open with them for an additional 3 months after I left, which by the way they also said we were 3,000 over our limit. Now everyone knows how overdrafts works you can not go over you limit, somehow after our account was closed and we actually had 200.00 still in there they managed to also add this on to the loan.

Their explanation, we could see our statement, the statement only read 3,000 debit. Now that could be anything. We did not know and in fact after arguing with them over ans over just got sick and tired of our rating and decided to just pay it off.

Little did we know that CIBC still decided not to change our rating they claim that they can not. Their fault but we have to get stuck with their error for 7 years.
I do know that customer service to them is nothing, after all I worked for the idiots.++
