The President's Choice idea was developed by a brilliant group of food-inspired people who have thought back in the mid-80s that Canadians are worthy of having better quality food preferences for their hard-earned dollars. The premise was plain as they will create unique or superior products that provide better value to our shoppers. The plan may have been straightforward, but few could have expected how Canadian consumers would come to love the President's Choice brand making it one of Canada's famous trademarks.

Hey,

Thought I'd clear up a couple misconceptions. First of all, the 10 day hold period applies if you don't want to do a credit check to determine the holds and limits on your bank card OR if you have poor credit. It's actually 7 days now. If you do the check, and you have good credit, then the hold period is 5 business days with a certain amount clearing up on deposit, ranging from $0-1000.

Next, it IS a virtual bank so everything is done either on the telephone, internet or at the bank machine. The reps in the branch are only there to open accounts and replace bank cards. The contact centre is actually based in Halifax, and the people are really friendly. I've personally banked there for 3 years and have no complaints at all.

Take care.

President's Choice bank is a great bank if you want an account with no service charges, no fees, free interac purchases, free transfers, free bill payments. Another positive is that they currently have the highest interest rate for a savings account going today at a whopping 4%. No other bank in Canada will give you that much for savings.

The downside to this bank is that you have to bank with CIBC or go to a grocery store like Loblaws and visit a pavilion(teller).

1) Each check you deposit will be held for 10 business days. This terrible as most banks only hold it for 5 business days or 6 business days (with BNS).

2) You cannot take out large amounts of cash with teller because the pavilion doesn't carry that much cash. It's a grocery store after all.

3) Customer service isn't too good from what I hear. They just direct you to a phone.
