Collection Agencies - 13yr old credit debt - Canada

13yr old credit debt

I have recieved a letter a collection agency on a credit card debt from over 13 years ago. I have re-established my credit since that time and was wondering if this can effect my credit status now. Also what can I do about this. Is there any type of time frame limitations.
