If you're worried about people messing around with your personal information it's important to report these companies to privacy commission of Canada. They're very concerned about identity theft etc.

Collection agencies need to be careful with how they deal with peoples personal information.. They violate the law all the time as far as I'm concerned.

Also contact your local consumer protection- Justice department to see what your rights are.

Mike,

I'm glad that you followed up as strongly as you did. Put the collection agency on the defensive for once.!!

iQor Collection agency - CBCL , Part Duh

Postby six_up » Fri Jul 07, 2006 12:00:00 AM

Just an update to my first post....

I got another message from my old pals at iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency tonight at 8:55 p.m. EST. So once again, I called the toll-free number. I spoke to a woman and told her the results of my conversation with the police, and told her that they would not be getting money from me. She promptly told me to have a good night, and hung up on me!

I couldn't believe it. I called right back, and this time, I got a guy. (Funny how they never give their name). I asked to speak to the woman I had just spoke with, and he told me there were no women working with him at the moment. I told him that I had just been speaking with her 30 seconds ago, and he said she must have left for the night (?).

Anyhoo, I started from square one with him. I asked him what info they had on me, and repeated that they only had my name, phone # and address. I asked him if there was a record of my conversation with they women I had just spoken with, and he sadi there was. It said that I had been in contact with the police, and that iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency would be getting no cash from me.

I asked him if they had any record of my calls to them, and he said that, according to their records, that tonight had been the first time that I had returned their messages! They had a record of the dozen or so times they had called me with their recorded threats, but no record of my calls to them!

I told the guy I was talking to that this was probably the most unprofessional company that I had ever dealt with, and that I wanted to speak to a manager. Alas, they had all left for the weekend, but he would file my complaint, and mail me a copy of their info on me.

We'll see what happens.....
