I have one collection account dating back to 2006 due to a Rogers account. I neglected to pay my final cable bill after the account was closed, and it was sent to collections. My fault, 100% my fault.
My Transunion credit report has a trade line from IQOR, opened 12/07, with Rogers Wireless Ontario.
This same trade line appears on my Equifax report with the additional information that the last date of payment was 11/06.
I believe this to be true, as the last time I paid that Rogers bill was in November of 06.
My Equifax credit report, however, includes an additional Rogers account, named Rogers SP, with CBV Collection Serv as the CA. It is for roughly the same amount. This account has a different account number than the one with IQOR. This account was assigned in Feb 09, and is stating a last date of payment of May 08.
I know this not to be true as I obviously have not had an account with Rogers since November of 06, and so it would be impossible for me to make a payment on it in May of 08.
Did IQOR sell this account to CBV? Why does the CBV account not show up on my Transunion report if this was assigned to them over a year ago?
Do I get CBV to validate the debt? Can they prove my last date of payment was in May 08? They obviously would not be able to, so would it be set back to November 06?
If IQOR has sold my debt, should they not purge that from my credit report? How does one go about doing that?
How does one go about settling an account? I'd be willing to settle for 50% as I think getting $550 for an original debt of about $140 that they probably paid pennies for is more then generous. So long as they don't touch the last date of payment.
I would expect this to drop off my credit reports in Nov 2012.
I've never been contacted by either of these two collection agencies about either of these accounts, I just pulled my credit report due to curiosity.
Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
