In this day and age, letter writing is becoming a thing of the past for many individuals. Letter writing is still alive and well in the corporate world, especially with law firms.
I've received a few requests for help lately from people who are having collection agency problems.
I'll write this again as it needs to be repeated. Letter writing is extremely important when disputing items with Consumer Protection and the Privacy Commission's office etc.
The more people you write letters to and describe your problems with collection agencies, the more action you'll get. Consumer Protection departments in all provinces have told me repeatedly that they WILL NOT deal with verbal complaints. They will only deal with complaints that are in writing and in a format that they can deal with.
