If you want stop a payment at the bank they will do it if you give them enough notice before the posted date on the cheque and there is a fee of around $12.50.

This may not be much help, but you can have your bank stop the automatic payments. Just tell them you want to stop the automatic payments and they will put a stop payment on them.

Help! ~Natale "Law" Offices

Postby Jeannie » Fri Jan 08, 2010 12:51:07 PM

My husband and I had a Wells Fargo loan about 6 years ago, we fell behind but started making regular payments again. Unbeknownst to us (we moved, both thought the other had updated contact info with WF) they sold our debt and were sending our payments back to our old address. One day, my mother calls to say I has received a letter from a "Natale Law Office". What I should have done at that moment was found this site, instead I told my mother to open and read me the letter. I'm sure many of you can guess what it was.... None other than the fake yet very real looking "document" threatening to sue. I called them and spoke with Mr. Sterling. At first he was rather amiable and even tried to help us get some consolidation financing (he did, however it would have cost us our home in the end I'm sure.... 27% interest with my house as collateral). After we turned the loan shark down things got kinda nasty.... We made a large "good faith" payment and arrangements for 250.00/month automatic withdrawal. It was only AFTER this I decided to actually google Natale Law Office and have been lurking here ever since.... Anyways, after a few months of successful payments I requested (in writing, via fax) to have our payments adjusted from one monthly payment of 250.00 to instead become 2 bi-weekly payments of 125.00. Same amount, smaller bites. I received confirmation of these new arrangements via a message left on my cell phone voice mail by Mr. Sterling. A week later, they attempted to take the full 250.00 which subsequently went NSF. I emailed them and did not get a response. A week later they again attempted to take 250.00 from my account, it too went NSF. Finally they wised up and started the 125.00 however they were so random with the dates it was like they were playing roulette. I again emailed them, again no response. I had not heard from them since April. Part of my new years resolution is to fix all this crap so I decided to call WF (the original creditor) to see if I could finish this with them. That was 2 days ago, that was when I found out the debt was sold to Arrow Financial Services. He gave me a ref number and told me to call them. I called Arrow, they told me the account has sat dormant in thier files since April when Natale transferred it back to them. I guess Arrow claims to be a collection agency but they don't actually do any collecting. I was told to call back in 2 days (today) and they would let me know who our file was assigned to. I told her the history with Natale and was assured by her that they would assign it elsewhere. I call today for the info, as soon as I enter my ref number my call was transferred to none other than...... can you guess?..... yeah, the asscrumpets at Natale.... I called Arrow back, spoke to the same woman as 2 days ago, and pretty much went off on her. They won't reassign it.... I called WF again to see if there was any conceivable way to clear it up with them, and because it was sold and not outsourced they can't do anything. He told me not to worry about the forthcoming threat of legal action by Natale though, he said if they threaten it (after i have attempted to make reasonable arrangements) to tell them to go ahead and sue because in his experience the courts have favored the defendant once the defendant shows they made a reasonable attempt to pay the bill. He also suggested I send post-dated cheques instead of (lesson learned here) auto-withdrawal. My concern is my bank info has not changed so what if they try anyways? Also, because I know the debt was sold should I propose a settlement? My original creditor will not see another dime because they sold it (probably why the WF guy was so lax about the whole thing). Knowing WF wont see the money almost makes me feel like I should just take 1800.00 and flush it, as it is now going to line Deanna Natale's fat wallet instead.... I only intend to deal with these "people" over my fax machine, some letter writing advice would help too.....
