how old are these things on your credit report? on the second page of your credit report it states how long judgements are kept on file. If the time has passed for them to purge write to the bureau and have them removed immediately. If not wait out the time and you will see improved credit score.

Several Questions - HELP`

Postby ulstergirl67 » Wed Dec 16, 2009 10:12:13 AM

I am trying to fix up my credit. I pulled my Equifax and it is not as bad as I thought. However, I have some old judgements showing up that were long ago settled. It was a mortgage that I kept getting way behind on. It has long been paid off since we sold the house, but I am having trouble getting the paperwork to prove this (throught the lawyer of the mortgage company) - how do I fight this - do I go to the court and request the paperwork, do I just dispute it through Equifax?

I also had a repo on a car. Am I able to try to negotiate this amount? If a judgement has been placed against me, can I still negotiate the amount or do I have to pay the full judgement?

Help thanks :-)
