I ordered a copy of my credit report from Equifax recently and on it was a collection item with the wrong date of last activity. I may be assuming wrong but I thought that date was supposed to be the date of last activity with the original creditor. I'm a bit confused. It's a minor item that I disputed with the creditor many years ago and should have fallen off by now. What would be the best course of action? I don't have documentation to back up my claim. Would it be best to write the credit agency and ask for proof from them? Should I ask for proof that it is in fact my debt? I don't want to create more problems than already exist over such an insignificant item. I just want it gone and, according to my calculations, it should be.
