No, most follow it but the ministry was quite serious that this practice was to stop. Global is probably the only one who has not complied because it is the basis of their entire business.

If the rule isn't in place yet, then these collections agencies will not stop this practice.

Deanna Natale was told by the Ministry in Ontario not to send those Statement of Claims anymore that aren't filed with the courts because they did it so much and received so many complaints the ministry said "either stop it or I will make it a rule for Ontario collection agencies"

This goes to all agencies in Ontario, they are not allowed to do that scare tactic anymore or they risk losing their collection license (or being fined) in the province of Ontario. So if you do receive one make sure to file the complaint with the Ontario Ministry so that this stops soon.

As far as I'm aware, Deanna is a registered lawyer. That said, if you've received a letter that appears to look like an oficial court claim, which would have a little red seal marked DRAFT in the upper right corner, then I understand hy you're asking the question.

Also, have you obtained your fre Equifax and/or Trans Union credit reports yet? If so, you should be able to se any judgements listed against you in there.

Gotta run.. BTW: Check your inbox.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck health wise, hope you are doing better now.

She is a registered and licensed lawyer. You might be reading too deep into the letter, lawyers use language in their collection notices that can confuse some people. Why don't you call (block your number first) and ask them to give you a claim number and the name of the court they obtained the judgment in, and then call to verify it.

Either way you are what collection agencies consider to be "judgment proof" which essentially means they wont waste any further resources trying to collect on that judgment... if they in fact do have one.

Simple question: Is Deanna L. Natale a lawyer or is she imposing as one.

I received a letter from her today on a debt that i have outstanding. Four years ago i was diagnosed with a brain tumour which resulted in me having serious issues following several neurological surgeries and huge costs for travel to the Montreal Neurological Hospital. The decline in health forced me off work and now i live on a small LTD benefit. The result of all of this was i ended up with debt that i could not pay.

The letter says that she has been retained to enforce a judgement by the court. I have never been served papers that i was being sued by the creditor and no court reference file is noted on the letter. Is this legit or is it a threat tactic?

RichardC,

I'm glad you spoke up; I had a new member accuse me I was involved in a scam with natale law office, just because I had a good experience with them when I settled my debt.

In my opinion; I think you should take some of that money you have and get yourself an education and if you do have one, then I would ask the university for a refund. I really don't care what natale does, but I know from experience the majority of lawyers out there know what they are doing. The letters they send out are considered a grey area and till the gov't decides to change the laws then these collection agencies will keep on doing what they do best. I will keep on defending natale law office and any other collection agency that treated my right, when I settled my debts. If you want to be a dictator on here and try to make people think otherwise that’s your choice, but in time people will get tired of you and will ignore your opinions. If you have so much money you don’t know what to do with it, then your life must be very boring.
