I think you need to talk to someone else at MasterCard. If you settled your debt they should update your credit file to show zero. I settled over twelve debts and after I settled the debts they updated my credit file showing a zero balance and that was the end of that. It costs them money to keep reporting. Who is the MasterCard Company?

ok, I spoke with the biggest asshole in the world today with Collect Canada.
I asked him for an updated discharge letter that included the date paid in full.
And with some serious attitude he asked why. I explained to him the situation and he informed me that such a letter would serve me no good. So after some insisting he agreed to send me the revised letter.

So in the meantime I call the mastercard company to ask them about the debt. And asked them why they are still reporting activley every month that there is an outstanding balance. They told me that is thier practice an they will continue to report the outstanding balance monthly. Even though it has been paid in full a full year ago.

Now my undertsanding was once collections bought the debt, then Mastercard no longer held me liable. So why do they keep reporting that I owe them money?

I would get the letter updated that you paid this account off last year. The credit bureaus do not take people at their word.

Does it say the date of last activity is April/2009 or is that the reporting date, there is a difference?

would'nt be better to show the actual date of last activity which was a year ago? Because they are still showing it as "Charge Off" as recently as April 2009. Even though it was paid off a full year ago

If you show the credit bureau the letter they will probably update the balance to zero. The date of last activity will probably stay the same which it would be in your favor.

I got a copy of my discharge letter today for my mastercard. My question is, the letter does not state when I paid the account off in full?

Would they backdate it to whatever I said was the paid date?

Duplicate items need to be removed... that will increase your score immediately.

If you point out the duplicate to the credit bureaus they should remove it right away. By law everything on your credit report needs to be accurate... duplicate listings are definitely not accurate.
