I know this is a canadian site, but i thought i would write about my concerns about privacy and the hurricane katrina catastrophe.
There has been so much talk about privacy issues and identity theft. With people's houses evacuated, a whole city of people, doesn't this leave people's homes vulnerable to looters walking in and stealing people's personal and credit information.
You could find people's credit cards, passports, social security numbers etc if they haven't cleared them out.
Next, with some refugee people not carrying their identification, how do government people properly identify these refugees? It's going to be a recording night mare.
How are the credit reporting agencies going to know who people are and solve their problems. It's hard enough to deal with the credit bureaus as it is already. Losing your identification in this electronic day and age is a night mare. Now they've got several hundred thousand people with no ID.
I hope the governments and credit bureaus are working on this already.
