If they didn't buy it then there is someone still in the picture. I know when companies by other company’s debts get transferred over to the new owner. It’s like CitiFinancial bought the associates out, the debts got transferred. I need to ask some questions again, I forget because I reply to a few members on here.

1) This debt is because of a rental lease.
2) When was the last time or year you paid on this account?
3) Is this a judgment?
4) What year did you sign this lease?

There is a reason why they are not showing you the proof and I believe it’s because it’s in your favor.

They didn't say, but i'm pretty sure they didn't buy the debt. she told me on the phone that if the company doesnt exist than they will transfer the money to someone else.

Did the collection agency tell you if the bought the debt or not? If they didn't buy the debt then someone is still in the picture. If you contact consumers affairs that overlook the credit bureaus I am 100% sure that they will have to show proof after they get involved. They have right to pull their license for unfair practices for a certain period time.

They can't be asking people for money if they don't have some sort of paperwork, maybe they don’t want to show you proof for the simple fact you might not owe or the limitation period is up or something that might be to your advantage. They have three other offices on their website https://www.atlanticcollection.ca/

that office is closed, why would they deny me proof of what I owe? I mean that would be the easiest way for them to get some money. ANd yes the local office is closed, I checked
