I understand your frustration. If you ask these collection agencies for proof that they are licensed in your province, that should give you proof of their names and identity.
They must give you proof of both the agency and the agent being licensed in your province. This is by provincial regulation.
Make sure you get to the crux of the problem as this collection item will go on your credit report if you don't deal with it properly. Most times the collection agencies will report electronically to the credit bureaus Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada.
Contact the original creditor to see what's going on.
It's okay to be angry at a collection agency for being rude, but it's even more important to make sure that they don't end up putting collection items on your credit report. This will cost you alot of money in the long run.
