Alex,

First off you are in the right site to find the information you are seeking. My suggestion would be to start off by reading through the various forums and pay special attention to Raymonds comments. He, along with many others, have addressed most (if not all) of the concerns you are raising today.

In a nutshell, as DrunkBeerGuy pointed out, this debt is stats barred; meaning that the collection agency has no claim to this debt - assuming that it's valid at all. In such a case, the most they can do is ring you up over and over and demand payment. They cannot take you to court, or, Garnish your wages as they'd never be able to pass a judgement against you for this debt. The law simply doesn't permit it.

So next time you receive a call from any agency regarding this debt, feel free to tell them to either take you to court, or buzz right off. They know that they have no claim to this debt, so there's no way that they'll take you to court over it - it'd cost them too much money to do so.

Again, my suggestion right now is to read some of the postings on this site - start in the Collection Agency section - and build up your knowledge base. You'll quickly see that many folks have encountered similar troubles and after they post their story typically tips by others are posted which offer advice on the subject.

Good Luck. You'll pull through this as long as you refrain from caving to thier demands for money.

O.C.

I have dealt with a few collection agencies in the past and for the most part there are some nice collectors out there and the ones that are rude I call them cockroaches.

Sorry about capitalizing all letter just a habit of lazyness. You know when french try to write english.

What bother me the most is the name calling calling me a thiefs and other thing. They call me a debtor instead of my name. Don't business people should address people they do not know personally by Mrs. whatever your last name. I mean little respect.

Also it was on my credit report a somme point but as a card reported every month and always been in good standing. The account had been paid as agreed and the account close. I am trying to get them to provide me info such as at least the old account number they won't event do that they say they don't have too.

The lady phone me 4 time in less than 30 min. After I hung up on her because she loud she pravcticly yelling at me and rude.
Other factors the account was joint.

So you guys thing that at this point they cannot do anything else than been aggresive and try to scare me off into paying? I am just worried because I have a good credit and work my booty off to get there been self employed and do not want to loose that because of some idiot.

Because seem like where ever I try to get recommendation they just say you have to pay them or they will get on your credit report. At this point I already wrote them the letter to never communicate with me other than writting. How long before they will turn around and get on my credit.

Everywhere I look they have similar story but you know it does not give a step by step. Anyone know of where I can find more info to protect my self against them and be informed of my right and there right.

Thank, Alex

Alex,

Drunkbeerguy is right. If it was me and the statue ran out, no getting any money out of me especially after the collection agency was rude. If you have a tape recorder use it the next time they call you and don't tell them you are recording them, and see how they like it having them on tape. I bet they will never call you again after you play back the recording.

Cheers

Alex,

First, I realize you are upset, but Capitalizing every letter is unnecessary.

Second, the item is stats bar, they are lying that they can do anything....next time they call, tell them to send all correspondence by mail and that they are no longer to contact you by phone. If you do get a piece of mail from them, throw it in the garbage. They are grasping at straws. They know they can't garnish your wages (the item is stats bar, so they can't take legal action). The item is almost nine years old, the item is only on your credit report for maximum 6 years if it is delinquent. The item is no longer affecting your credit in ANY way. Tell the collection agency to get bent!

WHAT TO DO WHEN A COLLECTION AGENCY KEEP CONTACTING YOU, HARRASS YOU. THEY EVENT WENT AS FAR AS CALLING ME A THIEF AND OTHER NAME. THEY ARE SO RUDE AND IGNORANT. YOU TRY TO TALK TO THEM, YOU KNOW IN A CIVILIZED MANNER BUT THEY ARE SO IGNORANT. I AM ASKING THEM TO PROVIDE ME WITH INFO SUCH AS THE ACCOUNT NUMBER OF THE CARD IN QUESTION SO I COULD VERIFIED FROM MY CREDIT REPORT.

THEY ARE CALLING ABOUT A OLD BILL THAT APPARENTLY THE LAST PAYMENT WAS MADE BACK IN FEBRUARY 2000. AS FAR AS I KNOW THAT BILL WAS PAY AS AGREE. FOR MANY YEARS THIS CARD APPEARS ON MY CREDIT REPORT AND SHOW AS PAY NO PROBLEM.

GET A CREDIT REPORT YOU WILL SAY.I DID THAT THE INFORMATION IS NOT ON THE CREDIT REPORT NO MORE TOO OLD. WHAT A PERSON TO DO. THE ACCOUNT HAD BEEN PAY BACK IN 2000. OF COURSE THIS IS ALMOST 9 YEARS AGO AND I DO NOT HAVE THE RECEIPT ANYMORE.

I AM GETTING VERY UPSET WITH THEM THEY WILL NOT LISTEN TO ANYTHING ALL THEY KEEP SAY IS PAY OR ELSE. WHEN I ASK OR WHAT THEY CLAIM THEY WILL PUT IT IN MY CREDIT REPORT. THEY WILL GARNISH MY WAGE AT WORK. I AM SEFL EMPLOYED SO GOOD LUCK.

I OFFER THEM $500 JUST FOR THEM TO GO AWAY THEY WON'T TAKE IT. THEY SAY THE BILL WAS 1700. FOR SO REASON THE CREDIT LIMIT WAS ONLY $1000. BUT WATCH THAT THEY NOW WANT $5800.

ANYONE KNOW WHAT A PERSON CAN DO ? AND WHAT CAN THEY DO TO ME ? CAN THEY AFFECT MY CREDIT SCORE WITCH IS FAIRLY GOOD.

ANYTHING ANYONE ? ANY WEBSITE WITH INFO ABOUT CANADIAN COLLECTION AGENCY AND THEY RIGHT.

HELP!!!!!!!!
