TD Line of credit

Postby Pheth999 » Thu Oct 16, 2008 12:13:26 AM

Hello, I really need advice from you. About 3 years ago, my boyfriend wanted to start a business which required investment money upfront to cover the cost of equipments, computer, and buying stock, etc. I used my credit card and line of credit to help him to start the business. After 3 months his partner just disappeared on us. We barely could keep up on our rent and car payment during that time, so I didn't pay anything to my TD account. Surely after 3 months, I found out all my money left on TD account were moved to pay my outstanding balance with TD visa. I was really worried about the debt but I didn't have any money left to pay them. After trying to save very little every months for over 2 years, I felt like I might be able to work out a monthly payment plan with TD, but of course my debts were with collector company. +$6000 Visa debt was moved to Collect Com credit. The guy was really nice and we agreed on making $200-$300 per month for 6 months, and then I can have a discounted settlement after that. I paid $500 (pretty much all I have saved) for the first month. Before I can even make the 2nd payment, another girl from the same company called and said she is now taking care of my account, and the monthly payment is not an option anymore. I was offered with a big discounted settlement $3100. The problem is I don't have any money left. She gave me 1 month deadline and I borrowed money from my friend and paid that one off. Line of credit wasn't so easy. I got the collector's number from TD and called them right away. The guy gave me a settlement of $3200 out of total owing $5500. I told him I can't pay it at all and would like to see if can do monthly. He said no and hang up on me twice. So I didn't want to call him back the 3rd time and that's it. Oh, he also said something like garnish my wages and take me to court. Today, I got a call from the company I dealt with my Visa debt. Different girl and she told me now she is dealing with my line of credit which I owe about $5500. She gave me a settlement of $3000 but I can't pay her that. I barely have $200 in my account after my rent and car payment. I told her the situation and there no way I can borrow another $3000 from my friend since I am still paying him back month by month. She said that's non of her business (I do understand this part) and she suggested to borrow from citi financial. She asked if I am still with the same employer but I am not. Other company offer my better pay so I change my job just this month just started this week. I told her I don't go out shopping, I don't have any money to spare (those are true) I want to save up and pay back what I owed. She gave me until the end of this month to pay her $3000. I told her I want a written agreement (learned from my friend). She said once she has it in writing that's it. I have to pay. I was honest with her that I don't think I can pay that kind of money but I will try if my friend will lend me money again. I was really scared when she said after this month the company will sue me and garnish my wage. (She did mention that I have a Royal bank visa, I have no idea where she got this information but I reply with yes, I do) She asked me to call her tomorrow morning and go to some place that has a fax machine so she can fax me the paper with settlement agreement. I called my friend and he laughed at me. He said just tell them the truth that you don't have any money and your friend is broke too. there is nothing they can do. They won't sue me for $5500. I am so afraid that I might lose my new job and I can never get back on my feet again.

This is a very long post. This account is probably at least +2 years old. What should I do? I do want to pay it back someday but just really can't right now.

Please help me.
