If they haven't reported it after all these years, it's very unlikely they will do so now. The debt will also be stats barred if you live in Ontario or Alberta. Probably, the reason for its not being reported is that the amount was relatively small. It's hard to say if they would choose report it if you decided to pay after all these years.

I'm being contacted by an agency which is attempting to collect on a prior outstanding balance I had with a phone company. I believe the last payment would have been made in late 2003/early 2004, and the original outstanding amount was around $600 (they claim $800+ after interest).

I have just obtained my credit reports from Equifax and TransUnion Canada, and neither of them show that debt outstanding (or another debt that is outstanding).

I'm just wondering if I can get any advice on this matter? Is this matter ever even going to go on my report, whether I pay or not?
