What threw me most about my Transunion was the age of the "positive" entries, all sorts of old stuff on there that I'd long forgotten about. Unlike Equifax who purges ALL records after six years, Transunion keeps positive entries going back (IIRC) fifteen years.

As a personal note, I think the "free" transunion report is much easier on the eyes to read than the "free" equifax report.

That's what I was thinking after reading through various discussions here. And I really do want to get my credit back up to par because in a few years we're looking at buying my husband's grandmother's house and likely will be getting a mortgage then. So, check the reports, pay up what I honestly owe and move from there.

Hey vampchick,

Fortunately, time heals all things.. especially credit.
After six years of messing up, it's all off your credit report.

Interestingly, transunion doesn't report exactly the same as equifax, so might see some different items on that report.

I just need to get mine from TransUnion (honestly, I thought my Equifax would be worse, like a lot of people, when I was in my early 20's I made a few mistakes because I really wasn't aware of the realities of credit and ratings).

Thanks Vitzbitz..

While it's great to get your free copy of your credit report, it's always good to know your credit score. I wasn't aware of that link.

I was talking to a guy yesterday who had never seen his credit report before. He was worried about what his credit looked like. I told him that he would get alot of peace of mind by getting a look at his equifax and transunion. He had all sorts of questions that could be easily answered on the credit report.

Ok, so that estimated my FICO score to be between 555 and 605. That's if I answered the questions correctly, a lot of them didn't really apply to me.

You can guesstimate your FICO score using;

http://www.bankrate.com/brm/fico/calc.asp

It's always been pretty accurate when I've compared it to my "paid" score.

Ok, lol...I feel silly. I only requested my credit report through the mail. Did not order my credit score. So I have no idea what my credit score is with Equifax right now.

And... what is your credit score?

Mine are as follows:
Equifax: 775
TransUnion: 805
