Hey RegisteredHuman, if you sent your request by fax to Equifax I've found they're rather obtuse, I must have sent my identifying documents in a half dozen times only to be told the fax was "too dark", "too grainy" and "too light", never did get it "just right", eventually sent it all in by mail.

Try this number for an actual person at Equifax,

1-877-323-2598

You're likely better to send by mail for these things (I request mine every couple of months simply because they're free...turn around time from Equifax is usually 2-3 weeks).

As for your credit score, whataname is absolutely right, these show as "soft" hits on your report, meaning only you and the credit bureau can see them, they DO NOT affect your score at all.

Good luck!

Hey Registered.human,

Try this number right off of equifax's website. 1-800-685-1111

Also just to inform you if you do have to request again by mail when you ask for a credit bureau you are only having a soft inquiry not a hard inquiry (which is what would happen if you applied for credit) so it will not affect your score.

Hope this helps you!!!!

No report yet - requested April 23rd, 2008

Transunion sent their file for me and were faxed the same day. I followed the identical procedure and all information on 3 files were consolidated and are mine. Equifax file has yet to appear and I have been waiting over 6 weeks.

I've tried to navigate the automated service (800.465.7166) to find a live human but have failed. Does anyone have a number for them or do I need to request by mail again. I'm nervous to do so in case they penalize my score for too many inquiries.

Any suggestions?
