cash back is always good... it takes forever to collect all those airmiles...
On Jun 16, 2011, fubackup Said:
There is also a 1% cash back option. It costs $49 per year but it also includes a year of free basic roadside assistance. I chose the cash back myself even though they pushed to give me the airmiles. I was pleased when I logged on to BMO this month to find a surplus on my MC. It pays yearly in January.

if cashback is what you want, I'd get the citi enrich which pays a full 1% in cash, or if you want to deal with mbna, the smart cash card would provide a slightly better return.

BMO credit cards are very lackluster in rewards. they are my main bank for everything, but I do not have a single mastercard from them.

Here's one example:

A $20 Metro gift certificate is 160 Airmiles, and to get 160 Airmiles you would have to spend $3200.

If you had the cash back, on a $3200 purchase you would get back $16.

So, the Airmiles might be a slightly better deal. But with the cash back, you can use that cash on anything you like - you aren't limited to a rewards catalogue.

Hi! I'm looking at getting the SPC mastercard and they have to options. You can either get the one that will give you 1 Airmile for every $20 you spend, or you can get .5% cashback which apparently gives you back $1 for every $200 spent.

Which deal do you think is better? I'm thinking the Airmiles is, but I need expert advice.

Sue Margaret... that's too bad... usually the CSRs are really well trained.. I'm sure if you called back and talked to a supervisor as Jean Karla mentioned, you would have better customer service.... Supervisors are the ones who have been trained in depth to deal with customers with all types of issues...

BTW... what issues were you having with your PC Financial Mastercard? Maybe we can help here
On Jun 10, 2011, Jean Karla Said:
Sue Margaret..

What i can advice you to do is to issue a complain to their supervisors. That will be the best action you can do.

I called them up. A CS rep put me on hold for a long time which is not done to me by other CC companies. Aside from that, the level of professionalism of the CS reps is extremely rude and impatient CSR. They all seemed very defensive and argumentative.
On Jun 8, 2011, CCHelper Said:
Sue Margaret... what happened with PC Financial?

were you inquiring about their card? as far as I know they don't have a cash back card... do you have a link to their site?
On Jun 8, 2011, CCHelper Said:
fardie83475, which link is that? can you provide me that link?
which question did you have about that card?
On Jun 7, 2011, Sue Margaret Said:
I have never experienced such extremely awful customer service until I encountered President Choice Financial. I would strongly recommend that you consider any other option in Canada before signing up with President’s Choice. It would be hard for me to imagine that any company could have customer service that is more awful than this firm.

bOwOwOw.. The TD Rebate Rewards Visa Card is a no-fee, cash back credit card that gives you cash back on your everyday purchases with your annual rebate. Every time you use the card to make purchases, you'll earn a cash rebate of up to 1% of the amount of the purchases charged to your cash back card. The more you use the card, the more money you get back.

I don’t see the Capital One 1% Cash Back Platinum Mastercard offered on their website. The link takes me to the Capital One No Hassle Rewards Platinum MasterCard which is a miles card, not a cash rebate card. Is this card available to the general public?

What are some of the best cash back CCs with no annual fee..mainly for shopping online and on stores. I've got Discover and it's great but curious if there are some other out there.
On Jun 7, 2011, meanbean Said:
I heard that there was some platinum MasterCard available in Canada that has 5% cash back on all purchases up to $2000 cash back. I know that some cards in the US offer 5% on grocery store and gas station purchases but I haven't been able to find anything of that sort here in Canada. Has anybody else heard of such a card?

It is obvious that Capital One is the best but sometimes people are not able to meet the qualifications for this card. What is the second best card after Capital One Aspire Gold MasterCard?
On Jun 3, 2011, jonathanpaul Said:
The credit card coming from Capital One which is the Aspire Gold MasterCard provides a lot of wide-ranging travel benefits as well as features to the card holder.

When you do your initial purchase with the card, they will instantly give you 5,000 worth of bonus rewards miles. Each $1 you spend would have an equivalent amount of reward mile. Every year, you will get 1,000 miles if you maintain your account open.

I like the idea of cash back credit cards... I do alot of spending each month with my business. I would like to get a discount for my purchases.. money in my pocket..

I spend about $15,000 per month with my online business. There really are no cash back business cards that I know of.. I would like a card that gives me 1-2% cash back... or the most possible.

1% of $15,000 is $150.. I can easily use that money to pay the phone bill, or another business expense.
On Jun 2, 2011, jonathanpaul Said:
Cash back credit cards are for people who pays off their balance at the end of each month. These type of people uses their cards to earn points only and not wanting to get air miles or gifts or whatever. What they want to receive are cash back points.
