What is PayPal? The recent technological developments have led to huge interests in e-commerce. There are many services offered online that allow you to perform numerous monetary operations without exerting much effort. PayPal is one such popular online commerce service offered. It is a service that allows you to transfer money and make payments through the internet. It is a subsidiary of another popular online business, eBay and works much the same way as checks or demand drafts. However it is much faster and convenient when compared to the traditional methods. It has its headquarters in California, USA. In Canada, PayPal’s operations are consolidated under ‘PayPal Canada’ and follow the same rules and procedures as that in America.

In order to use PayPal you must first create an account that can be used more or less the same way as an ordinary bank account. The money from your credit card or a bank account can be used to support it. You can then transfer money and make payments online using that account. PayPal charges a fee for conducting these transactions. The fee can be either a fixed amount or a percentage of the amount transferred or both. This fee varies from one transaction to another and also depends on the currency that is being used. When you make purchases on a site that supports Paypal, all you have to do is click on its icon available on the site to perform your transaction if you already hold an account.

PayPal has now become hugely popular and has millions of users worldwide. The main reason for this is the convenience it offers and also its security. When you transfer money using PayPal, the receiver will not be able to see any of your details such as your credit card number. This makes it highly safe and can protect you from theft. Also it has recently become very popular with more and more sites opting to use it as a preferred method of payment. So now you can use it to purchase items of thousands of sites, send money to your friends or even create an account in an online casino! Not only this, but it has expanded its operations to accept a huge number of currencies. This has made it highly convenient and effective. The fact that you can keep track of all your online transactions from a single online site has only added to its popularity.

PayPal created the Gausebeck-Levchin test which consists of a set of text and numbers in random order that is displayed to the user. These texts are a little blurry and the user is requested to type in the text that they see. This is done to prevent automated systems from accessing your accounts thus protecting them from malicious software.

PayPal launched its mobile version in 2006 allowing its users to make transactions using their cell phones. All you have to do it send them a message with the amount of money and the number of the recipient and they will take care of the rest. They also offer a mobile browser using which you can conduct such transactions. What is PayPal?
