WHAT IS WATER BILLS?

There are many prime cities and provinces in Canada most of which are facing a hike in the water bills. Canadians living in the city, Winnipeg have been facing an increase of around 11.5% since the year 2008. This has resulted because of the act that was passed even when the idea of the city’s infrastructure committee was strongly not to raise the charges to b paid to the government of the city. Majority of the committee then felt that the raise in the water price will in no way be used up to pay for the renewal of the water infrastructure. Earlier in the year 2006, Canadians at residing at Winnipeg faced a tremendous hike by 13%.

Brockville, Canada will have to face a price hike in the fee for consumption of water that amounts to $21.33 more than the usual bills for water over the previous year. As always there is a surcharge that has to be paid by the Canadians for the sewage water. Apparently the surcharges have also increased from 135% to 136% in the subsequent year. And these surcharges are expected to be paid on a quarterly term basis. Statistics say that for usage of around 25 cubic units of water in a month, the sewage surcharge bills over a quarterly term will be hiked by $5.33. This results in Canadians paying up total charges of $ 616.80 in the place of paying $ 595.47. There have been and there will be further increases supposedly on the water bills in Canada. It is expected that the bills are to rise by $1 on an average every year and this will probably be the status till the year 2018!

Talking more about the surcharges that the people of Canada keep paying for the sewage or the waste water, there is a steady hike that is not surprising for the people of the country. This is because the surcharges are to increase by one percent in the year 2010, and will gradually increase arithmetically in the forthcoming years i.e. by two percent for the subsequent years 2011 and 2011 and further by three percent for a couple of years – 2013 and 2014.

The hike in the charges for the usage can be paid if people of Canada concentrate on conserving water. As always, there a few basic causes that lead to extra usage and hence extra charges by the government unnecessary. The toilets and pipes supplying water to houses will have to be checked for any points of leakage. If so, there should be immediate steps taken towards it to get it to proper efficient usage, and this avoidance of extra water usage will naturally result in lesser if not less water bills. Water conservation on a large scale will help, though the conservation at the level of a home will have the people get their bills reduced comparatively. Regarding the price hike in Canada, there have been increases not only in the water bills but also on other taxes.
