Yes, I have used PIPEDA to get all information a CA has on file including soft and hard copies. The soft copies they print off their systems and they include their call logs.

There is a lot of interesting information you get from these clowns when they send you everything they have I on file and that includes information on who they have called trying to locate you.

From the information I received from various CAs I have seem at times one CA call another CA to see if they have any information about me.

M.D.,

I see my PM to you last night "disappeared" - The site errors continue?

Regardless, I was curious to know if you've sited PIPEDA to obtain a full history of a C.A.'s call and mailing(s) logs towards the collection of one's account? Thinking that it would be interesting to "compare notes" with my own files - I log all voice msg's and the majority of audio dialer calls that come in from these clowns, so it would be interesting to find out who else they've been calling on their quest to locate me.
Infuriating one C/A at a time..

You can use The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) to get the information you require to get your credit file updated.

I have used PIPEDA many times with collection agencies and creditors to get the information I required.

All you have to do is send them a letter stating under PIPEDA you want whatever info you require.

If you require more help with this process send me a private message and I'll provide you the letter you need to send them and guide you in the right direction.

I've been reading various posts from this website and am feeling a little better (that I’m not alone) because my blood has been boiling today. I need to know how to go about the most effective way of shaking some bureaucratic collection agency trees to get off their butts and do the other part of their job - report to Equifax and TransUnion that my debts have been paid in full !!

Background: I lived overseas for 20 years and came back to Canada a few years ago with nothing but my kids after a very difficult marriage. I had thought my new life would keep me overseas forever and so I had closed all my Canadian bank accounts, paid my loans etc. before I left.

As you've probably guessed, after 7 years, I disappeared off the Canadian financial system. Since returning to Canada, trying to prove my very existence in my own country of birth, with solid employment history, excellent credit and loan history (both here and overseas) and establishing my financial solidarity (even to the major bank I had dealt with for several years before moving away who I've sinced walked away from in disgust) has been a recurring nightmare for me.

Since I returned to Canada, my heart patient father went downhill and has since had a debilitating stroke, and my sister has endured two bouts of cancer, my children having only me to rely upon and recovering from the effects of an abusive situation, combined with the ridiculous cost of living here, well, my two jobs weren’t enough to sustain the constant attention to everyone's issues and I fell behind two months on everything, minimum payments only, that sort of thing.

My HBC and Sears accounts were consistently one or two months behind, but they both went to collections after a few months. (Very enlightening, by the way, to read that obtuse collections agent’s parasitic, stone-hearted view of people like me who - despite the huge and endless obstacles put before me by agencies, employers and financial institutions in my own country, and rather than be a drain on the public purse - who work 7 days a week in two jobs, and support as far as possible the needs of my children in college and university and those of my other family, while being active with community service).

So, now the family issues are levelling off and I am beginning to feel some hope of seeing the light of day again, I'm trying to reorganize and regroup. My issue: Those fully paid out HBC and Sears accounts from one year ago are still lodged on my credit report as R9 and Unpaid and no one will talk to me unless I constantly produce the receipts and payout letters for those payments. (BTW I never went as long as 6 months without paying, even if we had to go without groceries!). Since April last year, I have talked to and sent e-mails with the people to whom I was dealing in those agencies and to whom I had paid the money, also their supervisors, and still there’s been no action on removing Unpaid markers on my credit report.

I've just started looking into credit repair solutions, but would be interested to know how you would deal with this situation and these greedy #$&*$% people because it's severely cramping the new progress I am trying to make?

well... as much as that would be nice..

collection agents will be here as long as people get into debt... they've been here for a long time, and they'll be here for a while to come.

The economy is getting worse and Collectioninrage is hearing the word bankruptcy a lot. If people can’t pay their debts they will file for bankruptcy and this will hurt the collection agencies. It won’t be long before Collectioninrage will be on the unemployment line.

Dear CollectorInRage,

If you're making so much money from losers, why would you post here.?
Why are you encouraging people to pay their bills? You get paid more when people default on their payments.

OMG... you're logic has holes in it.

If people don't pay the creditors, then you step in as a collection agent.

Why would you want people to pay?

Oh... I see... you want people to default on the creditors , but not default on the collection agencies.. I See... that makes perfect sense now.

To Collectionrage-- Wow do you have anger management issues!! As a single parent who was duped by the government into accepting a student loan with the promise of a better life as a result; I loath all your kind and all they represent.

You state that you would love to live in a world " with compitant adults who can do what they agreed to do in the begining."
Well I would love to live in a world where the government that I pay taxes to actually uses my hard earned money to better the lives of the people they are ELECTED to protect!! But alas the government of this ridiculously backwards country chooses to suppport people like you and the criminals of our society. I lump you in with them because the attitudes of your kind, and methods used very easily qualify as criminal harrassment.

In other parts of the world the taxes of the people are used to provide FREE university education, and guess what...the people earn more, produce more, and have no slums, and no need for people like you. Yet here we are in Canada in the 21st Century, and people like Karla Homolka are allowed to study child psychology in university for FREE after raping and murdering her own sister!! Not only that, she is now living free and clear in the carribean far from those she hurt the most most likely at our expense!!

Those of us "losers" as you call us, who are law abiding citizens, who work our asses off to provide for our families have to listen to idiots like you calling us every name in the book, harassing us, and harassing our co-workers/families/friends all because we work but can't pay. Perhaps you should look closer at how our society has set up it's own people to fail; rather than classifying innocent hard working law abiding citizens as losers. Our government that has failed us miserably, one day you will be introduced to something called Karma, because what goes around comes around, remember that when dealing with us "losers". Your day will come rest assured. Then you will see things from the standpoint of reality.

I pity you, for being so hateful, angry, and blind to reality. You may not be a psychiatrist, but you definitely need one.
