Collectorinrage:
Hopefully you can make lot of money so you can pay your liver trasplant after it gets rotten because of your high level of rage, which I doubt it, because more and more people are not going to pay ridicules interest rates and fees, simply because they can't or because they prefer not to pay until people just like are extinct. So better start looking for another job my friend so you don't get late in your debt payments.

Collectioninrage,

It sounds like you have personal issues that need to be resolved. I wouldn't call a person a loser because they can't pay their bills. I’m sure if you look around; you will find friends, family members and co-workers that can't pay their bills. I have no respect for bill collectors that call people names. It takes a certain type of coachroach to call people up and insult them and then expect them to pay up. This is why I only offered 10% to settle my debts; I am not having some coachroach bill collector profit off my hardship.

I would rather not have to hold debtors hands while they go and make a pmt on their $10000 debts just to make sure it gets done!

I would rather live in a world with compitant adults who can do what they agreed to do in the begining.

TAKE REPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR SELVES. IM NOT A PSYCHIATRIST
I DONT GIVE A FLYING ONE ABOUT WHY YOU CANT PAY, JUST PAY!!! ITS SIMPLE...... YOU DONT TAKE MONEY YOU CAN PAY BACK, YOU BUDGET, YOU PUT MONEY AWAY, YOU SPEND WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD. THIS WHOLE THING OF YOU GUYS BEING AGAINST COLLECTORS IS REDICULOUS. IM STARTING TO WONDER IF ITS BECAUSE OF WHAT WE DO OR BECAUSE OF WHO WE ARE? IM GUESSING NONE OF YOU ARE FRIENDS WITH ANYONE IN THIS INDUSTRY. NONE OF YOU HAVE FAMILY. THE BOTTOM LINE IS.... EITHER WAY, YOU PAY. NOTHING GETS REMOVED FROM YOUR BUREAU IF YOU LOSE YOUR JOB OR IF YOU COMPLAIN ALOT. IF YOU GET SUED, YOU NOT ONLY GET SUED FOR THE FULL AMOUNT BUT YOU GET SUED THE INTEREST THE COLLECTION FEES AND THE COURT COSTS.... MORE AND MORE COMPANIES ARE GOING TO START BUYING THE DEBTS FROM THE CREDITORS SO THEY CAN SUE MORE PEOPLE......AND ANYONE CAN ASK YOU IF YOU HAVE BEEN BANKRUPT EVEN AFTER THE 6 YEARS AND YOU STILL HAVE TO ANSWER YES!! JUST PAY YOUR EFFING BILLS LIKE YOU WERE BORN TO DO. ABIDE YOUR CONTRACTS AND DEAL WITH IT...... OR KEEP TELLING PEOPLE TO HIDE FROM THEIR RESPONSIBILTIES AND YOU WILL SEE AN EVEN BIGGER CRASH IN THE ECONOMY....

ALL IN ALL

GOOD JOB DEBTORS... BECAUSE... I DO HAVE A JOB AND IT PAYS WICKED MONEY OFF YOU LOSERS!!

agreed....
what we're trying to do here is educate people to their rights..

We want people to not get into a cold sweat as soon as a collector calls. That's fair, isn't it.?

I have NEVER suggested that anybody shouldn't pay their bills. If they have a contract, they should pay as agreed.

There are extenuating circumstances that can't be helped. We want to make sure that people know their rights are and what they can and cannot do.

Is something wrong with that collectorinrage?

Collectorinrage,

It is your right to call people up and try and collect on behalf of your creditor. It is not your right to call up people and insult them or yell at them. I don't know why bill collectors have this attitude towards people, because if it weren't for people that owe you wouldn't have a job.

A very small percentage of Debtors ever get credit with the intent to bail on payments. Unfortunately, happens, and people start to prioritize. I think that people come to this site because they are being abused by collection agents and want to know what their rights are.

Collectors act over the top on the phone because it is the only time they have any control in their lifes. The rest of the time, they are the ones being made fun of and abused. You can threaten and act agressive on the phone, but you HAVE NO REAL POWER!!!

collectorinrage...

Thanks for the input... hope you have a perfect life.

I know you laugh at the DEBTORS... it's your business to. that's the way you stay motivated.

Somebody who stays as a collector for six years is pretty twisted.

Thanks for sharing though.

CBV isnt the Problem.... All of you are them problem.... Pay your bills.... If you cant afford it, dont get it..... The ministry that all of you idiots run to are more on our side than anything.... I think in my 6 years of working in this business, I've seen 4 people lose their jobs because of ministry complaints, and that was because they had about 7 or 8 of them.... most of the time anyone gets a coplaint from one of you low lifes, our bosses pull us aside, listen to the call, laugh a little bit, and then send an email. THATS IT!

The end result of all of you tired DEBTORS is, bankruptcy, R9, and a long list of inquiries from bank around the country. Good luck getting a job, house, loan, or anything with a burreau im sure the majority of you have.

I'm new to the site, so sorry if I shouldn't post this here... I'm just not sure.

I just had a call from an ex-land lady of mine at a place I haven't lived in about five years (I've lived in two places since then). She said someone called from CBV asking for me and asked if she'd pass on a message. She then passed it on through a mutual friend then to me. I have no idea if they know its a collection agency, but once I realized I was mortified!

I'm very good about paying my bills, though I have been late in previous years when I was young (say 7 or 8 years ago). I can't imagine what they'd be collecting on.

I tried calling the number and I'm repeatedly put through to someone's voicemail. I don't really want to leave a message, I want to talk to someone directly and have them answer my questions.

So far no luck.

I can't imagine where I could possibly owe money, but all the posts on here are making me nervous. I did use Telus about five years ago before switching to Sprint, but I do know my bills for that were all paid up. So I really don't know what it could be.

I bought an apartment last year, and NOTHING came up on the credit cheque for that, yet it must be something old as they had a really old address.

Since I haven't dealt with them at all, I'm trying to sort out how I should go about it. Ideally, I'd prefer to deal only in writing (is that possible?) as I then have a paper trail and have a chance to understand whats being said. But I also don't want them contacting people who are friends or old landlords as thats horrible for them and inappropriate. I'm not going to ignore this issue, of course, but does anyone have any advice on how to proceed?

I've never had collections after me before.

If you really want them off your back, when they keep calling you tell them you are willing to offer then 10% to settle your debt in a one time lump sum to settle. If they do agree make sure you get the agreement in writing. If they deny it keep telling them 10% every time they call and you will see the calls stop in no time.
