Well, OK. In this case that doorstep would be 1210 Sheppard Avenue East, Suite 104A, North York, Ontario, M2K 3C4.

Don't forget to take a couple of pitbulls or canary dogs with you.

About a class action lawsuit: if only people would galvanize their sense of injustice and start one against the Highway 407 ETR.

With respect to iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency , if the John E. Dowling case didn't do anything, nothing will. That's not to say that a private individual couldn't take them to small claims court if they wanted.

However, for collectors like iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency and TCR, it's only a (very small) cost of doing business. It would take a precedent setting class action suit to have any significant effect on them.

Such cases would have to go to Divisional (as opposed to Small Claims) Court and would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Who's gonna pay up front for that without any guarantee of return?

I heard on the news today that an individual is trying to start a class action suit against Mister Transmission. They charged the guy $550.00 for a repair estimate and they didn't refund it when he had them complete the job. That's contrary to Ontario consumer laws. They were advertising on 680 News for other people who also unknowingly were double billed.

Well, thank you for your assistance Raymond, you gave me some good ideas. I called the Legal Department and told them about this website and the rumblings of a class action lawsuit and that seemed to spur them to action. Strength in numbers. I mean here I am being harrassed and I don't even owe money and then there are these people at iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency behaving in an abhorent and unprofessional manner - even criminals in prison are not allowed to be harrassed in this manner so how can a county like Canada where freedom is supposed to be prized - where we have a constitution - how can it be allowed that people are subjected to this prejudicial treatment (I would classify these collections agents behaviour as equivalent to hate crimes where a human being's dignity is attacked and they are subject to psychological torture). Forgive me if I sound like I am getting carried away but I've never been unfortunate enough to have owed money and I am appalled that this is allowed to go on. How can the government allow this when they make such a show about zero tolerance for harrassment in the workplace and yet these people are allowed to victimize people in their homes. Anyway, I will be sure to let everyone know this goes on and maybe it will take something like a class action to make these people learn to treat others like human beings. I am not saying that debts should not be paid but the companies that support these collection agencies who behave however they please without adhering to the guidelines that have been put into place for collections should be boycotted.

To top it off they would not even tell me the company that had my phone number so I am at a disadvantage to know who wrongfully sicked these neanderthals on me in the first place.

Here's a copy of my reply to a blogger on May 18, 2007 about iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency (not CBC - that's the TV network). It's equally applicable here. Forget the police thing.

Call the iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency Ombudsman, Debbie Bilowus (she's a recycled collections manager herself, from out West - so she'll understand) @ 1 888-804-8198. Do it 10 times for every autodialler or live message you get and tell her it will continue for as long as you get them.

Or if you like, call the legal eagles (or should I say collection agencies?) over on 1210 Sheppard Ave. East, North York @ (416)790-2775 or 1 -866-526-7779. Tell them about the 10 for 1 "July Special" you're having. Let me know how long the calls last.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...... iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency , the largest, and perhaps the third most persnickety collection agency in the country, make thousands of calls each day through hundreds of phone numbers.

They're not alone, but iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency 's principle modus operandi is to use the autodialler as a method for "psychological tenderization" [a.k.a. harassment] as it's called in the industry. Or alternatively, "persistence wears down resistance," to borrow Total Credit Recovery's rally call.

Autodiallers are really effective for getting under your skin and breaking you down because there's no one to scream back at.

Usually, they put a file or reference number on the mindless recording; however, if it's only dealing with a parking ticket or phone bill, then they may have been careless in setting up the autorecording. After all, 25% of a $52.50 parking ticket is only 13 bucks.

In any event, autodialler calls of all kinds are amazingly easy to defeat in my experience. I've never seen a single exception. So when I see people who write in start off with: "I've been getting calls from "XYZ" 3 times a day for 5 years.....;" you'll have to forgive me, but I think to myself, 'the person doesn't need a financial advisor, they need a psychotherapist - if they're crazy enough to have put up with that nonsense for 5 years.

iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency called me in the past with some of their autodialler silliness, the latest one being last month. On a really BAD day, it's never taken more than an half an hour or so to stop it. But 5 years?

As an aside, you can also get chronic telemarketing calls of this nature. One pernicious autodialler going around the GTA for months was from "(416) 736-9664." They were (and probably still are) calling people 2 or 3 times a day for months and then hanging up when someone answers. A lot of guys on the web were bitching about it. Perusing some of the blogs, I was able to find a couple of guys who thought they had 2 possible names. The second name turned out to be the correct one. It turned out to be a telemarketer who was operating a machine for Royal Deluxe Windows and Doors up on 25 Milvan Drive in North York. Since their autodialler defaulted to fax mode when not in use, I simply sent them a pleasant message via fax and hit repeat 100 times. Monday morning, I called them up at their regular office number (while they were busy refilling their fax machine with paper) and they apologized.

Now, of course, that won't work with a bunch of hammerhead collection agencies like iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency . For that you have to apply the "Jackson Method" described in other posts.

If your temperament is unsuited to this, you can simply call the iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency ombudsman Debbie Bilowus. 1-888 804-8198 is her direct line. Blogger Elizabeth Morgan describes her experience with Bilowus in gushy terms [in her post last month], so she may be able to similarly help you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hello everyone:

I would like to take this opportunity to offer assistance to anyone whom has had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with Canadian Bonded Credits Limited.
I myself have had this misfortune but decided to do something about it. I contacted my local branch of government (in Ontario) and found relief and helpful incite from a delightful young lady who was gracious enough to provide me with some pearls of wisdom I would like to share with you all.
The "Official" contact for iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency is:
Debbie Bilowus
1-888-804-8198 (Direct Line)
416-753-4880 (Fax)

Debbie Bilowus is "THE" person to speak to if you are complaining about anything to do with there employees, harassing calls or other such nonsense associated with iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency .
The other bit of wisdom I received is the actual location of document online; outlining policy and procedure that governs these fine businesses....."

[Elizabeth Morgan]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Failing that, maybe call their legal depatment @ 416 790-2775 or 1-866 526-7779. They're pretty nasty, but if you bug them, they'll dig up whoever has got your account in order to get rid of you.

The last 2 methods are not the ones I would choose; nonetheless, they may be ones most people fell comfortable with.

I've having the same problem with CBC un fortunately i owe rogers some money 5 yrs ago i was not aware of and they put me to collection, so i've been getting these harrasement calls where the call 7am in the morning till 9 at night randomly they just hang up so i pick one up today and found out was actually cbc calling the agent on the phone was not very nice infact kind of rude i ask him to explain the situation, but his accents were extremely bad i ask him to repeat himself twice the third time he just left it there dead air i ask very nicely to transfer the call to some one else and questioning me back why do i want to speak to another agent he claim he can handle this call then i ask for his name he refuse to give out ask him for the center's number he refuse to give out then he finally says he will transfer me, he cold transfer me to another rep which had no clue what was going on, so i ask this rep if he can find out who was i just talking to this guy refuse to give me his name so i just hung up and call rogers instead

Click the link to the above thread and then go to my May 18, 2007 entry (near the bottom of page 1).

That'll give you the direct line (1 888-804- 8198) to the iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency ombudsman, Debbie Bilowus. She's there now so give her a call and tell her your tale of woe.

If that doesn't work, there's a lot more fun stuff than that.
