You have to get a laugh at the vultures tactics every now and then. The first letter i recd said that i had 5 days to pay the balance or they would do an asset and property search. as usual the letter was postmarked days after the deadline date. Then a month later i get another letter saying by law they have to notify me the papers are all ready to go to court. But i f i pay the balance in whole things would be ok. Then a month later i get another letter saying that the original creditor is ready to make a gracious offer to settle. Wonder what happened to the going to court. These Aholes are a joke but its funny to see them with the grade 4 kids style of collecting. Cant wait to see next months letter. To top it all off its a 17 year old debt ,they must not have enough to do if this is what they spend their time with.

I am surprised to read your experiance about collection agencies but the question is that how do the collection agencies get all these information about a person do they contact Revenue Canada from tax returns or S.I.N. number or simply from the telephone directory what is their machanism of gathering information.

You'd be surprised what they know about you....almost right down to the number of times you go to the bathroom a day.

That is what i thought it might be. The thing that does concern me is how they were able to find one of my phone numbers which most of my family don't even know. Where i work doesn't even know it and it is with vonage so my number is not local it is a city number 100 kms away.

Just another bottom feeder trying to intimidate you to pay something on an old debt that they have no other means to collect.

Aktiv

Hello,i have been receiving letters and calls from collectcents about a credit card account from 1994. The owner of the account is Aktiv with collectcents doing their poking around. i have dealt with Aktiv before on another stat barred acount and get letters about once a year with reduced offers etc but thats all.I wonder if anyone else is having this problem,is collectcents just blowing air out the rear or are they trying to suck people into paying on these accounts. they found a unlisted number not even under my name so they have been poking around ,i have sent for updated credit reports to see what they have done. Just curious if there a feeding frenzy of the vultures trying to pick up some extra money.
