Monty experian is hard to get a hold of a person they have telphone automative that you talk to and no one else. I went to get my free credit report from them by fax and just wanted to make sure they got my request and when it would be sent to me. There is no way you can talk to a person. Called their head office also in Toronto and got the same run around. All a bunch of telephone auto's. Not easy to get a hold of them do you have a number I can call to get a hold of a person?

hey girlygirl...

I have some more information in regards to Experian/Northern. They are very easy to get in touch with. All I have to do is fax a request to put an alert in your file, and they need

date of birth, sociale insurance number (optional), previous

and current address and a photocopy of 2 pieces of I.D. Don't forget to sign and date your request. AND you can communicate with them via e-mail!!

This is good information that I thought I should bring to the surface again.

Hi Raymond,
Hopefully eventually I'll be able to program in some easy to use url codes here so that we can standardize the method of adding url's into posts..

I believe that if you type in http://www.website.com the url will automatically show up.

Initially I had a contactor build this site. He build in some items that I wasn't aware of.

Please do keep posting urls as they are good reference materials for everybody.

Let's hope it was the long Equifax URL that I posted for blogger Bonnie Sousa; if so, then the problem is solved. However, that might not have been the difficulty. It seems that I was getting partially blanked out postings on some threads since last Friday and that posting occurred 2 days later on Sunday. Further, I checked some older unrelated threads by various other bloggers in the past and some (but not all) came up blanked out. Perhaps it was because you were using Firefox and most other bloggers had IE; I dunno.

Additionally, that long url I posted was not a clickable link. You would have had to copy and paste it into the address bar. I tried the shorter clickable link from Equifax's site, but when I pretested it before posting, it wouldn't go through, thus making it necessary to post the longer one. Anyhow, no matter what browser it was, it wasn't recognized as a url.

I felt it was important to post it because the statement was made that you needed to have 2 active credit cards in order to get a report but that simply isn't true. You will need a credit card to get an online report and credit score though. But to get a free written report mailed to you it's unnecessary. Otherwise, anyone who was bankrupt or had bad credit wouldn't be able to obtain a credit report.

The request application pdf form, available online, can be printed off and states right on it which forms of ID are acceptable. Ditto for TransUnion, as they both used the same generic forms last time I applied.

So it's easy to get free copies of your credit reports. Trying to get them to correct all the errors is quite another matter. It can turn into a career.

UPDATE:
I found the problem that was killing this thread.

It was Raymond's fault!! :)

He posted a mile long url for equifax which was too wide and thus was throwing everything out of whack.

I thought we had programmed in for that type of thing.. It will be fixed shortly.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

And Raymond... please feel free to keep posting URLs. !!

No we don't plan on disputing the correct ones, just the incorrect ones. So beside each item write delete, and should I also provide the fraud report from the police? How do I get them to put a note on the account to contact him if there are any for new purchases etc and that there is a fraud on the account or would they do that automatically if they have the police report?

If you're disputing items with Equifax Canada it's best to do so in writing by mail.

Just write beside each item: INCORRECT - DELETE

Don't dispute items that are really incorrect as you will lose immediate credibility.

Don't dispute items that are valid or correct.

Hi Monty, can you believe we actually did get through to equifax and as they were transferring they disconnected. us..This is after several days of trying to get through. So I've decided to go through the snail mail way, what do you suggest I put in the letter, just disputing everything that is fraudulant with a copy of the police report? . TransUnion was soooo simple compared to equifax!! We also got the report for experian (they are still going by Northern?) And there is nothing on there, but we would like them to put a notice on their credit report as well to cover everything. Can you lend a hand?
