A ten yr old debt can not be posted on your credit report.
The original lender would have posted it back when you originally defaulted and it would have shown as an R9 and it would have stayed there 6 years and then come off.

Once an item has come off it can not be re posted.

I don't acknowledge them. I let the answering machine take care of it. Would just be nice to harrass them some. There are laws against posting false information on your credit score. They can be given a 1000.00 fine. If you find they have you can threaten to report them.

why are you even bothering to acknowledge them if debt is 10 years old.
The whole point is to stop them calling, not giving them more reason to.
Again hang up and ignore....they will eventually go away...least for a while.

Just be sure to occasionally check your credit reports to ensure they have not obtained a default judgement through the back door....been done many times before.

they have to validate the debt. I would suggest that anybody and everybody compile a notice to them that you want the debt validated and that you will be invoicing them for administrative fees (answering their phone calls)
the amount can be anything you like really.
They apparently bought my 10 year old debt and tripled the amount i supposedly owed. Deluge these creeps with paper work, e.g. invoices, statements, etc. When they don't pay call them and ask why they haven't paid.
There are online invoicing programs you can use for free.

You can try but complaints rarely seem to have any effect. Simply continue to hang up....they will finally get the message.

They are still calling and refuse to send us any kind of paper to proove they even have the account to start with. The person who call even yell and demand that we send a fax instead of simply sending the papers. They do have the address already. She's called twice today again and as i work from home I hung up on her the second time. I can't spend my time talking with them when they are not showing us anything.

Should we start thinking about filling a complain and a harassment report?

assuming this debt is 10 years old it will not even appear on his credit report any longer as it would have come off 6 years later after he defaulted.

You can bet the farm they bought it for pennies on the dollar. Makes no difference, debt is to old to use the courts to collect.

Even if you paid them a 100 bucks they would make a profit. It is now simply a moral issue wether he chooses to pay.

Eventually they will stop as there is no money in hangup calls.
