Collection agencies do a great job of threating people with liens or garnishing wages.

What they fail to mention is first they must sue and win a judgement first.
Then to satisfy that judgement they must attempt to get a lien or a garnishment.

You have 20 days to file a defence...that's 1/2 your 4 weeks.

Ok....in any event house will close long before they would ever get to court assuming they would even sue. Probably just a scare tactic at this point to try to intimidate you to send money.

They would first have to take you to court and win a judgement....then and only then could they obtain a lien. Would take mths and mths.

i sold my house the closing date is in less than 4 weeks. a collection agency has just sent a notice threatening to put a lien on it not knowing it is sold. How long does it take to get alien? How long is the process? can they do it?
