I had a call today Jan.17 2013 from 705-872-4372..I picked it up because that is our area code..well what a mistake..he asked for Bonita..I did not say it was me..I asked who was calling and he said that it was (I do not remember the name..but know it was one of those idiots from a garbled message from last year that claim they are a lawyer for NCRI). I said sorry you must have the wrong number. It is a Peterborough no. which is about 1hr. from me. I googled the number. I tried to block it but bell wouldn't let me. It said that it is a landline phone. He said that it is??? from NCRI.
They are getting too close..I thought they were in Mississauga.Jerks..I will not answer it next time..I actually had about 4 phone calls this week from area code 705..no messages left.

Thanks for the info..yes was hanging up on them in 2012..but I was out yesterday and they left that stupid garbled voice message..it went on and on and on. I do hang up on them when I am home.
How many "lawyers" do they supposedly have at NRC..or is it NCR..don't remember. You can't even google the company now.

Just hang up as soon as you know it is them on the line....sooner or later they will give up..at least for a while. There is no commission in hang up calls.
But do check your credit report every 3 mths to insure they have not slipped by a default judgment.

No it won't matter.
Simply because it is stat barred does not mean it no longer exists.
All it means is their threats are useless because they could not win in court. They can still hound you.

OK this collection agency has started yet again with a voice message and idle threats for me to get in touch with my lawyer et. etc. within 24hrs. and when I googled the phone number 1-877-454-9864 there is nothing there..guess they have taken their number off so people cannot see who they are.
Can I send these assh---- a letter stating NO more phone calls? My debt is statsbarred..going on 3yrs. now.
Thanks

Interesting article but it pertains specifically to the US.

Laws and remedies are different here then in many States.

Here in Canada each province has its Statute of Limitations.
Once it has run out be it 2 yrs ,6 yrs what ever....Alberta is 2 years it can not be restarted regardless what you do.

The debt still exists but they can legally do nothing to recover it.
BC and NFLD the debt is extinguished and no longer exists after the SOL has run out.

Presently only in BC and NFLD is a debt legally extinguished when it has become Stat barred.
