Global is just the collection agency...fact remains the credit bureau has not purged their file after the 6 yrs that is required. It is them you must contact. Both equifax and transunion.

Yeah, I'm not that angry with rogers but with Global for their complete lack of communication. And no way of being able to contact them.

Your beef is not with Rogers ...it should be with the Credit Bureau. If the outstanding amount was infact 8 years ago and you had not made a payment during all that time until a month ago....it should have been automatically purged from CB 2 years ago. The regulations the cover Credit Bureaus stipulate a 6 year max....unless there was activity on the account such as a payment made during the 6 years....then it restarts again.

So my husband had an outstanding rogers bill from 8 years ago, like almost $700, that we found out about ONLY through checking our credit once, so we contacted them and paid it electronically. They promised us a fax when it was received and the account closed.

It's been about a month now and we still haven't been able to contact them nor have we received any fax. I left it for a week, then I started calling them daily, and for the past 2 weeks I've been trying 3 times a day, leaving voice mails with contact numbers, sometimes we don't even get voice mail because the inbox is full, our emails don't get returned. Rogers says they cannot close the account until they receive the money from Global, but on my bank statement, it shows a confirmation number, the amount paid and removed from my account, the date and the account number it went to with the company name. Should that not be enough to close the account and get that off my credit report?

I feel like there's nothing I can do, and am quite angry. If I lived closer I would visit the main office, but me in AB and them in ON its a bit much but I'm getting so mad I'm almost thinking about it. It's been on his credit for 8 years and we had to find out by chance.

Is there any company that regulates these types of things that I can talk to?
