Ok, I got the National and Alberta Student Loans offices to issue an update to the credit agencies, and they updated it almost immediately (which is great!). Although my FICO credit score dropped by 20 points :( (big sad).

Contact TransUnion directly! This shouldn't be that big of a deal to take care of!

Thanks so much, I'll be sure to contact National Student Loans and Alberta Student Loans asap. I'll let you know how this all turns out.

If they're paid, then transunion should have them closed..
you should contact them and the company you borrowed from and ask them why they're still listed as open

items on your credit report must be accurate, complete and verifiable or they must be deleted...

this should be fairly easy to resolve.

Student Loans Still Reporting As 'Open' On My Credit Report

Postby arthur5005 » Thu Jun 30, 2011 10:59:50 PM

It's been well over 8 months since I've paid both my student loans in full back to the government, and TransUnion is still reporting both of them as open, and one of them as having a balance still of $3500.

I've never had a late payment on these accounts, I have letters from both provincial and national student loan centres stating that my loans have been paid in full, but it seems as if each agency just 'stopped' reporting my activity to TransUnion.

TransUnion obviously doesn't say that there are missed payments on those accounts or anything to that effect, but I fear the balance is affecting my credit score negatively, along with the fact that both are still open accounts.

Who do I contact to get this corrected?

Thanks in advance!
