Normally online banking is secure for this purpose as it is easy to keep the records and get the proof, and is also fast (when compared to payments through ATM, for instance.) I strongly recommend getting the settlement offer in writing beforehand, anyhow.

Pay in some manner that you will have a record of the payment to protect yourself as the consumer. If you can pay it by depositing it directly into their trust account by going to a bank, ensure you get a stamped receipt. Keep it in your records.

Do you have a written settlement offer *before* you pay this to ensure they will not pursue you for the balance?

How to Pay Collection Agency?

Postby jtompkins2784 » Tue May 03, 2011 05:42:43 PM

I have just been given a settlement offer from CBV Collections that I am going to accept and pay. Should I make this payment through online banking, in person at my bank, or not through my bank at all? They would perfer to be paid this way (electronically) and asked me to call when the payment was made so I can give them the confirmation #.

Thanks
