I neglected to add that I'm not sure if I've reached a 'manager', but have been on hold for long periods of time to speak to at least four supervisors. I've been given supervisor's personal contact numbers, but didn't get a response when I called and got voice mail. As I said in an earlier post, I'll try the ombudsman.... and thanks again for the help and the interest.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will call the BMO ombudsman department. I'll post the results.

I guess I'm also making the mistake of assuming that you bank with BMO as well. If so, can you call your home branch and speak to an account manager? I guess what I'm saying is that it's time to escalate this. It becomes more personal if it's not directed to the national 800 number but to a branch, and even then, to someone with some authority. Alternatively, have you tried calling the number for BMO Visa and speaking with a manager, getting the name, then speaking to their manager, etc?

Unfortunately I live in a very rural area, and we have no Bank of Montreal.

Can you walk into your branch and speak to a branch manager. This is horrible customer service and I would close my account and all dealings with them if my bank did this.

compromised card

Postby jsbrunetta » Thu Apr 07, 2011 12:56:09 PM

While on vacation in US my mastercard was stolen on in mid January '11. My card was refused at a retail store, I called mastercard, they told me about the theft and said they would send me a new card .. (when I got back to Canada two months later) I finally talked them in to mailing a temporary card to my US address. Card mailed Feb 14th. Temp card was repeatedly refused (worked five times only) and when I called BMO was told "sometimes the temp cards don't work" Contacted BMO on my return to Canada Mar 10, was told a card would be mailed to me. No card. Phoned, was told a new card would be send UPS. Mar 21, called, no card, they would send another guaranteed to arrive in two days. Mar. 25 no card. Mar. 31 no card. The $1133. charges that are not mine were paid February 2 because I have pre-authorized payment with my bank.. April 7 ... no card. My account is ALWAYS paid in full on time. The statements find me at this address ...I've been told five times a card has been sent... nearly three months later .... no card. Any suggestions
