Hey Shauna,

Care to share which payday loan company is knocking on your door and harrassing you like that?

I'm sure our other readers would be interested.

IE: Be careful dealing with "this company". If you don't pay, expect a visit at your door from them.

That's crazy!

I live in Saskatchewan. And thank you I didn't know quite what to do about the whole situation, it's certainly not a great way to spend first thing in the morning or 5pm every night wondering if he's coming pounding on the door.

A payday loan employee would be a first party collection agent.

That means that he's performing collections for his own company.

If the payday loan company later passes the collection on to an actual collection agency, that would be a third party collection agency.

You would have to figure out which company was collecting you.

Pay day loans companies are regulated by provincial regulations as well as collection agencies?

There is such a thing as harrasment that a reasonable company should not do.

Call consumer protection in your province and also start writing letters of complaint to consumer protection.

Shauna, What province are you in?

Payday Loans

Are payday loan institutes the same as collection agents? I owed a payday loan company at one point and couldn't pay them because I was in between jobs. The guy pested me 3-5 times a day on my home phone and on my cell phone. Then started dropping by first thing in the morning, before he got to the office I suspect, then would stop by after work. The first time he stopped by, my front window was open and my kids have a strict policy not to open the door to strangers. I was in the bathtub at the time, and he tried telling my 7 year old son that he was a friend of his mommies and to let him in. After that I just completed ignored his "visits". Everytime he would pound on the door several times then started leaving his card in the door jamb. Several of them had comments written on the back, the last one I got said "Shauna this is ridiculous, answer the door!!!" I mean I know I owed him money and had initially made some arrangements but this was getting scary. Are they allowed to phone that many times and actually show up pounding on the door? It was scary for me and my kids.
