Aktiv Kapital is NOT a collection agency. They are a debt buyer, therefore they have purchased your debt from MBNA.

Soft inquiries have no effect on your Credit Score. You can make as many inquiries as you wish with no effect on your Credit Score. When MBNA sold your debt to Aktiv Kapital that "Tradeline" will show "Written Off, Bad Debt"

The MBNA account will now have a R9 rating and because of this, your Credit Score has dropped 30 - 40 points. This R9 rating will remain on your credit report for 6 years before being purged. Each "hard inquiry" will usually drop your score about 5 points which will begin to rise slowly in about 6 months. "Hard inquiries" only have an effect on Credit Scores for the first year. After that, they are listed only for informational purposes for readers of your Credit Report.

questions for a collection account

Postby flyinghunter » Fri Feb 25, 2011 12:34:21 AM

Hi everybody, I'm new to this site but have found the information on here really helpful. So I thank you in advance.

I'd like to ask a few questions though. I'm trying to repair my credit because I have a collection account on my file. It says date of last payment 2007 but was assigned to Aktiv Capital in 2008. It was an MBNA card (balance $1800).

My credit score in Dec 2008 was 569 and have since managed to make it at least acceptable because I have a credit card and a line of credit that I pay regularly and also I have a mortgage since April 2010. My scor went as high as 679 early this summer but has since dropped to 639 because of some soft inquiries from my insurance company and Aktiv Kapital both in early January.
I thought soft inquiries did not affect the score on our credit reports.
Also, the reason given by equifax for the drop off is the number of inquiries (which are those soft two and my personal inquiries) Do you think I affect my credit score by checking it often?

What kind of deal should I offer Aktiv Kapital for them to delete the entry or at least quit making those inquiries?

Thank you very much and have a good day
