ranzzzz - Thanks for coming to my defense. lol. I just got off the phone with the legal department of J.P. Morgan Chase. I had called their credit card collections department in Toronto to verify that they retained CRM to collect this debt and, after briefly explaining why I was going to be filing a complaint, I was transferred to their legal department in Ottawa. I spoke to a very nice woman who wants me to fax her the information so they can also investigate this matter. She asked me if I wanted CRM to stop phoning me and contact me by mail only and I said Yes, so now I don't have to send CRM a fax, she said she would notify them herself!

ryanmount - I'm a responsible person and not about to forget that I do indeed owe this debt. There is nothing I'd like more than to regain my health, start working again, and "step up" as you term it. Unfortunately, it appears that will not happen any time soon. Sometimes people can't control their circumstances, especially when it comes to health issues.

Thanks, I was going to file a complaint with the BBB but there must also be a governing body for collection agencies that I can file a complaint with. I wasn't able to find anything on the internet so I sent an email to the Consumers Bureau and asked for their advice.

Mrs. Simons phoned me about an hour ago and immediately began to change her tune but I cut her off by requesting the name of the investigating officer and the case number. She stated she never told me they were having me investigated for fraud, that her office's legal department was looking into this. I reminded her that her statement to me on March 15th was that they were conducting a "fraud investigation" and that another employee, Lori, who was the first person to contact me, also made the same claim. They did not say it was internal.
From what I understand, credit card fraud is a criminal offence and has to be investigated by a police department, does it not?

Mrs. Simons kept trying to make denials but I wasn't about to debate with her and interrupted her again, asked if there was an investigating officer and she said there was not. I requested her first name and she refused to give it to me. I verified the company address, requested the fax number, thanked her for returning my call and hung up.

You can try to write to BBB regarding your complaint. Their website is www.bbb.org.

Thanks, you two! I'm surprised you could make sense of my post, it's kind of disjointed because I was so angry when I wrote it. LOL.. I also want to send letters of complaint to the proper authorities to have their unethical business practices investigated but I'm not sure exactly whom to write to. Any suggestions?

Good job indeed. Keep us posted and tell us if there is anything that will happen on Monday :)

From seeing his reaction to your inquiry, I think they know they are in trouble.
