Legal? Conservatively, it's estimated the various provincial collection agency acts are broken 20,0000 times a day across Canada. How you gonna put all those buzzards in jail when we can't even get gun totin' drug pushers in there.

Unfortunately, you got played April! That's a common trick by these agencies. They'll promise you everything under the sun to get a payment from you, and if you don't have an agreement in hand upfront, well, chances are they're going to hit you up for the balance at some point.

Here's hoping you get lucky and it doesn't play out like that for you. But if you flip through the forums here, you'll see how many times people have been in your shoes and got hit with that blow.

cbv collectors lying..

Postby Missapril » Thu Dec 02, 2010 03:15:07 PM

Hi, I have a bell account for $2000 at cbv collectors. They have offered me $1000 settlemnt in the past and i havent been able to pay them. So i found out this year for christmas i was getting extra money. So i called cbv and made an offer to pay $800 to have it paid in full and settled. Made it very clear that was all i had and they guy agreed if i paid that it would be settled and i would get my release letter. So i paid the $800 and then he says he is waiting to see if bell will agree to that offer. However he had already told me several times and i clarified that 800 was all i had and if they werent going to take that i wouldnt pay right now. What can i do if bell doesnt accept my 800? When the cbv rep told me it would be settled at 800?
