there may be some helpful ideas in my DIY Credit Repair Ebook for Canadians...

I've got some letter templates that you can use for transunion and equifax.

So true about Transunion. I've fixed all mistakes on my equifax and my score is 690, I can't get anything changed on Transunion, my score is 622.

I would just be happy you are having issues with equifax, as long as you can get proof they will fix it.

If you have several copies of your credit report one showing the collection on there with the correct date to drop off and then the one where equifax dropped it off send them along with a current copy of how AKTIV added it back on with a dispute letter. Those mongrels kept doing that to me i did get them removed. Keep an eye on Transunion report though they like messing with that one more.

Yep, regulation is Canada is brutal, the reporting agencies also should share the blame.

The collection agencies are getting away with these unfair practices.

Not if it's past 6 years from the date of first delinquency, the first month you stopped making payments.

If that's the case getting it removed is another issue though. Report it to Equifax as no longer valid, equifax will validate with the collections agency and they will obviously lie and say it is still valid.

Ideally try to get proof from the original creditor and send that with your dispute letter to equifax. Keep sending copies of the letters until it's removed, they rarely will fix anything on the first.
